ONAM CELEBRATION AND FLORAL RANGOLI COMPETITION !!!!

 Onam is the most popular festival of Kerala . This is a Hindu festival, celebrated with a great enthusiasm throughout Kerala for a period of ten days. Onam marks the homecoming of King Mahabali, a legendary king, who ruled Kerala in ancient times.


 That period was believed to be the golden age of Kerala, people were happy, free from harm and complete harmony and prosperity was there.

On this occasion people wear new clothes, decorate their houses and put flower carpet called 'Pookalam'  in front of their houses, to welcome the King Mahabali.
                                                                      Thus, to mark this festival a house-wise flower Rangoli Competition was organized in the school activity hall, wherein all the participants were given rose and marigold flower petals and they had to bring petals of their own also to beautify their rangoli’s. The students marvelously decorated their rangoli with colourful petals.

Quiz on festivals!!


India is called the country of festivals and the festivals are an integral part of the rich Indian culture which exhibits various colours of life and vivacity. To assess the knowledge of students about major festivals of India an interesting quiz called QUIZ ON FESTIVALS was held in primary section of school. This was a class-wise competition in which I to V classes participated. This quiz was comprised of six rounds in total. First five rounds were about five festivals e.g. Diwali, Holi, Ganesh Chaturthi, Eid, Dusshera.  


 In each round various questions were asked related to above mentioned festivals .In the last round each class had to name two festivals without repetition of festivals. The students participated enthusiastically in this activity .This quiz enriched students’ knowledge about major festivals of India. Students became aware of legends behind each festival, their significance and all the rituals n customs related to those festivals. Class III   won this competition.


Role Play at Pre-Primary!

A Role play  was conducted by the students of Pre-Primary. In the guidance of their teachers, all three classes presented different stories.


 Nursery Children did the enactment on “Lion and The Mouse”, K.G. children on “Hare and The Tortoise” and Prep Class on “The Sun and The North wind.

  
Hare and the tortoise story done by KG students stole the show and was announced as winners! 

Children participated very enthusiastically.

Teacher's Day Celebration!!

Date: 5-9-13( Thursday)

5th September - birthday of the Dr. S. Radha Krishnan is celebrated worldwide as teacher’s day. So, the students of SSPS also celebrated this day as a tribute for their teachers . The celebration initiated at 10:00 a: m wherein our respected Secretary Sir and Principal ma’am followed by all the teachers were very warmly welcomed by the students. The programme started with the prayer song and after that our honorable secretary and principal ma’am were welcomed on behalf of the staff and students by giving a bouquet as a token of affection from our side. 
Each Teacher has some special quality in them that makes them different from others. So to highlight these qualities students, honoured the teachers with special titles.
Subsequently the students presented a stupendous dance performance energizing the ambiance. After that the students of IX class enacted a short entertaining skit depicting student - teacher classroom tête-à-tête.  Children had also organized a few games for the teachers. The first game was for female teachers in which they had to make popcorn garlands. Six volunteer female teachers were called and they were given one minute time to make a garland. Ms. Rashmi Soman was winner of this game.
Next to this was a male teacher turn, in which they were asked to hold the balloon with a straw and were asked to walk till the finishing point. The game was very exciting and after a lot of excitement Mr. Satish Sharma was the winner of game. The third round was pass the box in which a few teachers had to perform whatever was written their slips. Last but not the least was the lucky draw and Mr. Suresh was the lucky teacher to get the prize.
Before finishing off with the cultural programme Secretary Sir inspired us with his driving words and gave the best teacher award to Ms Rashmi Sonam.
At the end Principal Ma’am quoted an inspiring poem of API Abdul Kalam, giving us the message to keep high determination and positive attitude achieve our goal.
Lastly Rajesh Sir expressed vote of thanks on behalf of SSPS staff. Thus, on the whole it was a very short and sweet celebration that made Teacher’s Day more special for all of us.

Science Magic at Saint Soldier!!!

In today's  life ‘ Science’ has become an inevitable part of our lifestyle. Science is a magic along with logic. Science has no end.
                                                     Thus, to make students more interested and inclined towards science a 'Science magic' Competition for classes VI- IX was conducted in school. This was a house wise competition in which the four participants of each house had to present a few magical experiments and along with it they had to give a logical explanation for the same. The experiments included 'Invisible ink' Bend a stream of water and picking up of needles without using hands and a few more . 

The Competition was very interesting and knowledgeable. It was a new and learning experience for the audience. The session ended with motivational words of Principal Ma'am.
The winner in VI-IX was Zorawar Singh House.

This splendid success is a testimony to their hard work and determination. We are proud of each student who has brought laurels to the school and inspired others to aim higher in life.” The entire SSPS family celebrates this magnificent achievement with great pride and wishes all the students a bright, successful, and prosperous future ahead.
